Our Story

Natural Rhythms was founded by Abigail Nimui with an intention and desire to encourage and support deeper connection to ourselves, each other and the environment.

Like any great tree or river there's ever been there is a starting point: a small sapling or creek for more branches and tributaries to join. We look forward to watching our vision grow, changing with the seasons and blooming new ideas.

This is where we begin, with mindfulness expeditions and workshops.

I've spent much of my life in the wild places, I was fortunate enough to grow up with the Yorkshire moors on my door step and be regularly taken to the woodlands and mountains of the English and Scottish highlands by my family.

Moving to Tasmania as a teenager opened my heart and mind to deeper connections with the natural world. Discovering and journeying through her ancient forests and mountains, I felt inspired and in awe of her sensational wilderness and the people I met there.

For many years between adventures I worked as a disability support worker, a job I thoroughly loved. I dreamed of one day combining my passions and skills to start a business to be able to support all people to have unique nature and wilderness experiences.

But something happened... I fell more in love with adventure, travelling and the world than I'd ever anticipated and my desire to become a multi-skilled adventure guide took over. I spent the next 8 years pursuing the skills, training and experience for guiding and exploring the rivers, canyons, oceans, mountains and forests of the world. My all time favourite place and anchor point back home every year was in the pristine wilderness of south west Tasmania on the Franklin River.

Along my journey, I've spent a lot of time practising meditation and mindfulness in beautiful places. I have experienced the benefits of taking the time to be present in these remarkable locations and the positive impacts this has had on my wellbeing. This ignited a desire in me to find ways to integrate these practises into my journeys to deepen the connection between people and place.

Knowing how much the world could benefit from these experiences, I wanted to create opportunities for all people, no matter their ability to have meaningful connections with nature.

One where we slow down, take the extra time to explore, inspire curiosity, stretch and rejuvenate our bodies

Through my travels I learnt the importance of having the support of a strong community and finding time to share knowledge, skills and experiences. By creating opportunities to have regular catch ups for workshops, crafting and sharing communal meals, I hope to integrate those deeper human connections within our own community.

Thank you for being a part of our journey.
